Commander of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina forces in the Srebrenica enclave, Naser Oric, has stated Srebrenica massacre was painful, saying they, as Bosnians, had also faults for they did not have a 'national spirit' as other nations have, regarding Srebrenica genocide during the 18th commemoration. Being called 'legendary commander' for his efforts in eastern Bosnia surrounded by Serb forces during the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia Herzegovina, Oric told AA in an exclusive interview, he was appointed to another place from Srebrenica two months before the genocide. Oric said he was still sad for being not in Srebrenica during the attacks and added if he had the chance to reside there, he would have provided people's self-defense and not much loss would have taken place. Reminding "Bosnians in Srebrenica were left into the hands of international organizations in 1993," Oric said "UN Security Council needed to protectSrebrenica. However, it did not. I still don't know the reason for it. The only truth is that the Netherlanders there were guilty." He emphasized he would attend the ceremony on July 11, underlining his witnesses on many slained relatives and friends of his. Oric compiled his memoirs in a book called 'Bosniaks of Bosnia and Herzegovina' to remind Bosnians their past. Oric, known for his successful defense against Serbs in Srebrenica region, was on trial for the claim of committing war crime against Serbian civilians, but was declared innocent.
