The British gvernment has denounced in strong terms the suicide bombing that claimed at least 14 lives in the Somali capital Mogadishu late on Thursday. British Minister for Africa Mark Simmonds said in a terse statement that such attacks would bolster the British government determination to pursue support for the Somali people in their quest to build a future of prosperity and security. Simmonds expressed deep condolences to the Somali people for this disgraceful incident that claimed innocent lives. The bloody incident occurred a week after election of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as Somalia's new president in the first such polls in the nation since two decades. Britain has expressed deep concern at noticeable rise of influence of militant groups in the African country, incluyding factions with suspected affiliations with Al-Qaeda.
