More than 2,000 extra armed police officers are to be deployed to protect Britain’s streets as it emerged that an Daesh operative linked to the Brussels and Paris attacks took photographs of a new shopping complex in Birmingham. Its flagship store is John Lewis, according to Sunday Times.
A “surge” of more than 1,000 new armed police officers is to be deployed in big cities across the UK.
Theresa May, the home secretary, has also approved a change in the law to allow the 1,000 armed police officers guarding Britain’s nuclear power stations to be scrambled to anywhere in the country in the event of multiple terror attacks.
