Britain has today shut down its embassy in Sanaa and evacuated its employees amid the security developments unfolding in Yemen.
In a statement today, British Minister for the Middle East Tobias Ellwood called upon British citizens who are still in Yemen to leave immediately.
"The security situation in Yemen has continued to deteriorate over recent days.. Regrettably we now judge that our embassy staff and premises are at increased risk.", he said, adding that the British Ambassador the his diplomatic staff had already left Yemen this morning and would return to the UK.
