British PM phones Egyptian president on anti-terror combat

British Prime Minister David Cameron told Egyptian President Abdulfatah Al-Sisi on Monday that his country stands by Egypt following the murder of Egyptian Coptic Christians in Libya yesterday.
In a phone conversation, initiated by Cameron, the Prime Minister strongly denounced the despicable act of terrorism against a number of innocent Egyptian civilians in Libya, according to a press release issued by the Egyptian Presidential Office this evening.
He offered condolences for the Egyptian people and government as well as the families of the victims.
On his part, President Al-Sisi thanked the Prime Minister for the supportive stance of his country in the combat against terrorism.
He highlighted the need of a role by the UN Security Council vis-أ -vis the situation in Libya given that the UK is a permanent member of the council, that statement added.
Earlier today Cameron said in a press release he is appalled by the murder of Christians in Libya, "a simply barbaric and inhumane act." He added that his thoughts are with the families of those killed and "the UK stands united with the Egyptian people during this period of mourning."
