Britain's Prince Charles arrived at the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria, South Africa on Wednesday evening for a five-day official visit. Talk Radio 702 in Johannesburg reported that Charles's visit to South Africa aims to promote business and investment. He will also visit a number of Britain-sponsored development and environmental projects. At the airport he was welcomed by British High Commissioner to South Africa Nicola Brewer and South African envoy to Britain Zola Skweyiya. His wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, arrived in South Africa on Nov.1. Their program will start on Thursday with a visit to Soweto, near Johannesburg. Charles is scheduled to attend a dinner hosted by South African Acting President Kgalema Motlanthe on Thursday before visiting KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape provinces. He will make a keynote speech on climate change at the University of Cape Town. The pair will leave South Africa on Sunday night.
