Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, approved on Thursday a presidential draft law on joining the Montreal Convention aiming to re-establish uniformity and predictability of rules relating to the international carriage of passengers, baggage and cargo.
The Convention is also known by the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for International Carriage by Air.
It is an air law instrument that deals with offences and certain other acts committed on board aircraft in flight.
In 2014, States attending a Diplomatic Conference in Montreal, Canada, adopted a protocol to amend the Convention that recognized the escalation of the severity and frequency of unruly behavior on board aircraft that may jeopardize the safety of the aircraft or of persons or property therein or jeopardize good order and discipline on board.
