Caretaker Minister of the Interior, Marwan Charbel, said on Monday to Voice of Lebanon radio that the "cabinet formation train" was running smoothly on the right track, adding that the country's security situation is being closely monitored by security apparatuses.Charbel declined to speak of the possibility of being assigned a portfolio in upcoming Cabinet. He opted to leave such decisions to President of the Republic and the PM-designate, who best know what the next phase required."Cabinet formation is linked to the good intentions of all political factions," he said."There should be an effective government that takes care of citizens' needs and the security and economic situations."Recent security scares have swept over the country, as rumors of more car bombs added tension to turmoil. Charbel asserted that the security situation is "under close monitoring and follow-up." He confirmed that a number of suspicious cars were seized. On that note, he revealed that Lebanon awaits a shipment of highly specialized equipment within the coming few weeks specifically designed to uncover car bombs.
