Egypt denounced the recent attack on residence of Head of Iran's interests section in Egypt Mojtaba Amani, calling it an inappropriate act.A crowd of Salafi protesters attacked Amani's residence in a suburb of Cairo on April 5, in a protest against Iran-Egypt warming relations.Releasing a statement, spokesman of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Amr Rushdi voiced Cairo's opposition to the attack, the Islamic republic news agency reported. The statement said Cairo considers itself committed to provide security for foreign diplomats and their residences in the Egyptian capital. This is not a matter of being committed to the international laws and regulations, but rather, the Egyptian nation has considered it as its moral duty, said the statement.Meanwhile, reports from Tehran said today that a group of Iranian university students have decided to take flower bouquets to residence of head of the Egyptian interests section in Tehran on Tuesday in response to the Egyptian Salafi attackers. The students are to prove that maintaining solidarity among various Islamic sects is a must and that the Iranian and Egyptian nations are united.
