Cambodian Interior Ministry's anti-drug police department has arrested 1,184 suspects in 603 drug-related cases in the first four months of 2015, the National Police said on its website on Tuesday.
"Some 860 perpetrators in 459 cases were arrested on the suspicions of drug distributions, as 324 suspects in 144 cases were caught for drug use," the National Police said.
About 141 of the perpetrators are females.
During the crackdowns, the police have seized 8.06 kg of methamphetamine pills and powder, one kg of heroin, 6.7 grams of ketamine, 8.65 kg of drug-suspected powder, and 32 grams of marijuana, the police said.
According to the National Authority for Combating Drugs, approximately 13,000 Cambodian people, aged between 18 and 35 years old, have been using drugs in this Southeast Asian nation, up from roughly 7,000 users in 2007.
It is estimated that a drug user spends 17 U.S. dollars a day on drugs.
