Two Canadians have been released from an Egyptian jail but are still waiting to leave the country, family members said. Mohammed Loubani told the Toronto Star his brother Dr. Tarek Loubani, and filmmaker John Greyson were checked into a Cairo hotel after being unexpectedly released from their jail cells in the Egyptian capital. "They just came to their cell and said, 'Come with us,'" Mohammed Loubani told the newspaper in a telephone interview from Cairo. "They had no idea what was happening until they arrived at the police station. They were stunned." Mohammed Loubani said the release came after he and his father met with a representative of the Egyptian foreign ministry. Loubani and Greyson were detained nearly two months after being intercepted on their way to Gaza. Loubani, an emergency room doctor, was going to teach medical students in Gaza. Greyson was making a film about the mission. The pair was still without their passports Sunday, meaning they were not yet able to leave Egypt and were lying low until that time. "We are being cautious until they are actually out of Egypt," Loubani said.
