Car bomb detonates inside Somali police compound

Officials in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu, say a car bomb detonated inside a police compound on Friday afternoon. There were no immediate casualty figures, AP reports. Dark smoke was rising into the sky at the scene. Similar car bomb attacks have been carried out in the past by al-Shabab, the strongest militant group in the country. Earlier this month Somali based Al-Qaeda militants announced plans to merge with al-Shabab.
