Cat fur apparel allegedly found for sale in 2 German chain stores

Two German retailers have been accused by an animal protection agency of selling items made from cat fur, authorities said. Animals' Liberty, the agency, said on its Facebook page experts confirmed fur hats sold in the clothes shop chain Tom Tailor and pompoms at the drugstore chain Muller were made of cat fur, TheLocal.de reported. "The fur industry knows no limits," Animals' Liberty said on its Facebook page. Imports of domestic fur have been banned by the European Union since 2009. Animals' Liberty said the fur likely came from China. Both stores in question issued statements. Muller said the items were "promptly taken off the shelves" and Tom Tailor said it "deeply regret[s] what has happened."
