China's Xi urges strategic cooperation plan with Egypt

China's President Xi Jinping hailed as "successful" a visit paid by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Beijing in December, stressing the importance of working on carrying out a strategic cooperation plan to boost the bilateral ties in various fields.

He made the remarks during his meeting on Saturday with the Egyptian leader, on the sidelines of their participation in celebrations marking Russia's Victory Day.

Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said that President Xi voiced his appreciation for the great role played by President Sisi in leading the current development process in Egypt.

The Chinese president said he was looking forward to visiting Egypt to follow up steps of promoting the bilateral ties.

He invited Sisi to visit Beijing in September to take part in China's celebrations of victory in the World War II.

For his part, President Sisi asserted the importance of the historical relations binding Egypt and China.
