Maj.Gen. Mohamed Khalid, the commander of the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Liberia left cairo on Wednesday concluding a several days''visit to Egypt . During the visit , Maj.Gen. Mohamed Khalid, a Pakistani national, held talks with a number of officials at the foreign affairs and defence ministries on the situation in Liberia and the role played by the Egyptian personnel working with the UN peacekeeping mission there . It is worth to mention that Egypt plays a prominent role in supporting the UN peacekeeping forces in Africa either through observers or troops since the 60s. It first started working with the UN peacekeeping forces in Congo, then , Somalia, Central Africa, Mozambique , Rwanda , The Comoros, Sierra Leone , Western Desert , Burundi and Liberia. The Egyptian troops are working in Liberia since 2003 and so far in addition to their participation in the UN peacekeeping forces in darfur.
