Egyptian Consul General in Los Angeles Ambassador Lamia Mekhimar on Friday called on Egyptian nationals to renew their expired passports.
In statements, she said this comes within the consulate’s keenness on protecting the Egyptian expatriates’ interests, adding the consulate will approve the passport renewal via submitting an application in person or by mail.
The ambassador added that the consulate will approve issuing e-passports for those who do not carry a national identity card but can provide an electronic birth certification.
She added that these passports will expire within one year and can be extended to the legal period if the person issued and presented a national identity card.
The consulate is working on to receive a delegation from the civil status department to issue national identity cards for Egyptian nationals, she underlined.
