Qatar's Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jabir Al Thani spoke at closing session of meeting of core members of "Friends of Syria" held in Qatari capital, Doha. "Except for 2 countries, the others reached an agreement on supplying Syrian opposition with military aid," said Al Thani."The two countries preferred to help Syria in different fields. We want to provide military aid to Syrian opposition with the aim of reaching a balance between the sides fighting in Syria and thus getting closer to a political solution." Stating Qatar was determined to help Syrian opposition, Al Thani said it was not correct that international and regional forces were involved in the civil war in Syria. Al Thani called for a transition government which would not include Syria President Bashar al-Assad as well as his supporters. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State John F. Kerry said US would provide $300 million in humanitarian aid which he said would be the greatest among Friends of Syria countries. Kerry also confirmed the decision that Syrian opposition would be supplied with military aid after Assad used chemical weapons. Speaking to Italian News Agency ANSA, Italy's Minister of Foreign Affairs Emma Bonino stressed the only solution to Syria crisis was a peace conference. Pointing to the Geneva 2 conference for a solution to the civil war in Syria, Bonino said the ministers of 11 countries having attended the meeting in Qatar agreed on keeping the process of Geneva 2 conference alive.
