Court arrests 3 suspects in Nemtsov’s murder case for second time

Moscow’s Basmannyi Court on Monday arrested three suspects in Nemtsov’s murder case until April 28 for the second time. They include Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, Khamzat Bakhayev and Shadid Gubashev accused of links to murdering Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov on a bridge in central Moscow on February 27.
Judge Valentina Levasheva who announced sentences passed on each of the defendants said the court decided to satisfy the investigator’s appeal to take the three suspects into custody after hearing the opinion of the litigating parties and studying the materials of the case. -0-fil
None of the suspects pleaded guilty of the incriminated crimes.
"I have never committed any crimes, and I have always enforced the law. I have never done what I am being accused of. I heard the surname Nemtsov for the first time when I was detained on March 8," Tamerlan Eskerkhanov said adding that he had an alibi.
"I disagree with the court ruling. I am not linked to that crime. I did not know anything about it," another suspect, Khamzat Bakhayev, said.
"I did no kill anybody. I did not commit any crimes. I was working on my car," the third suspect, Shadid Gubashev, said.
The defendants will be kept in custody until April 28. They are going to appeal their arrests.
Russian politician Boris Nemtsov, co-chairman of the Republican Party of Russia-People’s Freedom Party (RPR-PARNAS), was shot dead on a bridge in central Moscow at night on February 27.
