The Zagazig criminal court on Tuesday referred a non-commissioned police officer to Grand Mufti to give an opinion on death sentences handed to him.
The defendant faces the death sentence after accusations directed to him for gunning down three of his cousins.
According to the investigations, in 2012, the policeman used his police gun to kill Ramy Abdel Aziz, 52 and his two brothers Khaled, 43, and Shamel 23.
He took his decision to commit the bloody attacks over claims that the deceased used 'magic' to make him sick.
Although the grand mufti's opinion is non-binding on the court, Egyptian judges have traditionally adjusted their final rulings in accordance with the mufti's recommendations.
