Cyprus' government has been asked to beef up security in resorts popular with Israeli tourists, according to local dailies quoting the Israeli Jerusalem Post. "We've identified a continuation of the Iranian global campaign to launch terror attacks on Israelis," Jerusalem Post quoted a defense official as saying. "We're sending messages to every country hosting Israeli tourists," the source added. "It is very disturbing to see Iran, as a terrorist state, wage this determined campaign," he said. In July a Lebanese man was detained by Cyprus police for planning attacks against Israeli tourists. The arrest was made after police received information from Israeli intelligence. The man was in possession of photographs of Israeli targets, and information on Israeli airlines flying back and forth from Cyprus. The man will stand trial on September 12 in Limassol and faces nine charges of security-related offences.
