Data available for dozens of high-profile corruption cases in Russia

The detention of Sakhalin region governor Alexander Khoroshavin is not the last arrest of a high-ranking official, Director-General of the National Energy Security Fund Konstantin Simonov told the Rossiya 24 TV channel on Friday.
"This is the first arrest, but I think it’s not the last one", he said, adding that the information obtained by the All-Russia People’s Front movement led by President Vladimir Putin is enough for initiating dozens of criminal cases.
"We can no longer live in a situation when the worst punishment for a high-ranking official is resignation", Simonov said. "In the current challenging economic situation, the population is ready to put up with a decline in living standards, but the ruling elite shouldn’t behave in a boorish way. The president understands that if the elite refuses to grasp the meaning of the current agenda, it should be handcuffed and sent to jail", he added.
He reminded that Sakhalin was a problem region arising many questions.
Alexander Khoroshavin, who is suspected of accepting a $5.6-million bribe, was detained in his office on Wednesday and flown to Moscow. He will remain in custody until the end of April.
