Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey always defended Georgia's territorial integrity. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Maia Panjikidze in Tbilisi after a tete-a-tete meeting, Davutoglu indicated that Turkey supported all communities in Georgia to live in peace and brotherhood. "Turkey and Georgia are two friendly countries and will remain so. Turkey is Georgia's most important commercial and economic partner," Davutoglu noted. "Trade volume between our two countries has reached 1.5 billion USD. It is highly important for Georgians and Turks to visit each other without need for visas or passports," Davutoglu underlined. "Turkey wishes to boost relations with Georgia. We discussed with Panjikidze bilateral relations and what could be done to promote our relations," Davutoglu also said. Minister Pajnikidze, in her part, said that they were working to boost relations with Turkey. "Turkey is one of our most important economic partners," Pajnikidze stated. Answering a question of the Anadolu Agency correspondent, Pajnikidze underlined that Georgia's doors were open to all businesspeople. Davutoglu also met with Georgian PM Davutoglu also met with  Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili in Tbilisi. Davutoglu's meeting with Ivanishvili was closed to the press. Sources said that Davutoglu and Ivanishvili discussed steps to be taken in order to deepen relations between Turkey and Georgia. During the meeting, Ivanishvili told Davutoglu that they appreciated Turkey's active role in the region. Davutoglu, in his part, told Ivanishvili that Turkey saw Georgia as one of the most important countries of the Caucasus.
