
UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, announced Tuesday the resumption of negotiations between the parties to the Syrian crisis in the Kazakh capital of Astana.
De Mistura said in a press statement on the sidelines of the meetings that the meetings have resumed, and the work will continue, and "we are, as usual, optimistic".
The negotiations between the Syrian government and the opposition kicked off Monday, mediated by the delegations of Russia, Turkey and Iran, as well as UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, to discuss stabilizing the ceasefire truce in Syria, which went into effect in December 30.
