Yemen's defence minister survived the explosion of a car bomb on Tuesday near Yemen's government headquarters in central Sanaa which killed seven guards, security officials said. The attack came a day after troops killed a top Al-Qaeda operative, state news agency Saba said. Smoke billowed from the area of the explosion sealed off by police while ambulances rushed to the scene which hosts several government departments as well as security headquarters, witnesses said. Earlier witnesses said the car bomb exploded near Yemen's security headquarters in Sanaa, in an attack that came a day after the second in command of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was killed in an army raid.
