The General Department of Drug Control (GDDC) has busted a three-person drug trafficking and dealing gang, recovering 3.25 kilograms of opium, half a kilogram of hashish and 100 grams of methamphetamine, as well as measuring scales and an unlicensed gun and ammunition, from the members. An investigation was launched after the GDDC received a tip-off from an informant about an Iranian woman's drug-dealing activities. After monitoring the woman's movements to substantiate the information, officers obtained a warrant to raid her apartment in Salmiya, where they found three kilograms of the opium and 30 grams of methamphetamine, along with the gun and ammunition and a set of measuring scales used to weigh the drugs. On questioning the woman, she admitted that she had been working with her Bedoon (stateless) boyfriend, who was quickly apprehended, with GDDC officers recovering a further 70 grams of methamphetamine, a quarter kilogram of opium and a half kilogram of hashish from his home. A Kuwaiti accomplice who was at the man's home at the time of the raid was also found to have a piece of hashish and a number of ready-rolled joints in his possession. The three, who admitted that they had been working together to import and deal in drugs, have been referred to the relevant authorities.
