Duma speaker insisted on meeting with Sisi despite vacation

Russian Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin requested a meeting with visiting Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi despite the Duma's recess, Egyptian Ambassador to Russia Mohamed el Badry said.

Speaking to Sada El Balad TV, el Badry added President Sisi held talks with Naryshkin on the Duma's recess, asserting Egypt's role in the region.

The meeting was constructive and fruitful, the diplomat said.

A number of Russian lawmakers attended the meeting, el Badry added.

Russia President Vladimir Putin is expected to accompany Sisi on a tour of the Kremlin before holding talks, which reflects profound Egyptian-Russian relations, he added.

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi started Tuesday his third visit to Russia since becoming a head of state.
