Ebrahim K Kanoo drag and drift night set at BIC tonight

An exciting evening of drag and drift action awaits fans when Ebrahim K. Kanoo Drag and Drift Night, powered by Motor City, takes place tonight at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). The talents of both professional and amateur drag and drift enthusiasts will come under the spotlight tonight – the fourth such event at "the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East." About 487 fans of varying ages turned up to see 125 drag and drift cars with varying specifications and technical capabilities take to the tarmac at the last event, and a similar turnout is expected tonight. Drag and Drift Nights are sponsored by Ebrahim K. Kanoo and powered by Motor City. Skilled professional and amateur drag racers and drifters have embraced the events series as the ideal platform on which to showcase their skills whilst pushing their own cars and bikes to the ultimate test. The drag activity will see participants converge at BIC’s quarter-mile Drag Strip which is affiliated with the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) worldwide programme. The Drifting activity meanwhile, will take place at an especially-prepared course on-site. Drag racing is widely recognised as one of the most visually appealing tiers of motorsport, and has remained popular around the world since its origins in the 1960s. Since then, drag racing has been one of the most popular ways to gauge a vehicle’s horsepower, and usually sees drag racers take on each other in head-to-head battles. Taking place on the sidelines tonight is BIC’s enthralling Dragster Xperience. The Xperience is the one of the circuit’s most enjoyable offerings, and gives riders a taste of pure velocity. Passengers will buckle up in BIC’s fine-tuned dragster while a skilled driver powers the 1,000hp engine forward from zero to 100kph in just one second. The Dragster Xperience costs BD40 per person. Tonight’s drift event will see drifters give it their all as they take on the sharp turns of an especially-prepared course. Drifters will see their manoeuvring and control skills being challenged as they attempt to swerve and powerslide across the track in the least possible time. Both of tonight’s activities can be enjoyed for BD10, while participation in just the drag or the drifting costs BD7. On-site registration takes place from 5pm, and the action continues from 6pm to 11pm. Vehicles will go through mandatory safety checks before they will be allowed to participate. Spectators will be seated at BIC’s Batelco Grandstand to ensure they have the most comprehensive view of all the on-track action. Tickets cost BD2 to watch. Those who would like to enter a car as a passenger can pay an additional BD2 for a close-up view. Each of tonight’s exciting activities will take place in the safe and secure grounds of BIC Sakhir, giving participants and spectators the chance to enjoy themselves to the absolute limit.
