Four gunmen were killed Friday night while they were allegedly trying to lay an explosive device ahead of the arrival of an Egyptian military convoy traveling from Sheikh Zuweid to al-Houra village in North Sinai Peninsula. Egyptian security sources told Ma’an that the devices exploded unexpectedly killing four gunmen who were laying it. Egyptian security forces carried out inspections in the area looking for other gunmen who might have survived the accident. Earlier Friday night, security sources said army helicopters struck a house on the Egyptian side of the border with the Gaza Strip. The sources said the army believed the opening of a smuggling tunnel was hidden inside. The sources highlighted that helicopters entered Palestinian airspace over the Gaza Strip to monitor the border area.
