Egyptian army continues a broad drive to block tunnels linking Sinia Peninsula to Gaza Strip for the third week in row. The semi-official Middle East New Agency (MENA) quoted Saturday a military source as saying that the army engineers units backed with giant equipment will continue the effort till blocking and demolishing all tunnels, the expecting to take months to complete the mission. The source noted that the army has not used explosives or water to plug the tunnels. Egypt has moved to seal myriad smuggling tunnels with Gaza after a militant attack on border security post left 16 Egyptian soldiers dead on August 5. Cairo fears that some of the attacker may have used the tunnels to enter Sinia and attack the Egyptian forces.
