Georgian Ambassador in Cairo Archil Dzuliashvili on Tuesday said Georgia's Deputy Foreign Minister David Jalagania met with his Egyptian counterpart Hatem Saif.
In statements to MENA, the Georgian Ambassador said that the two sides discussed ways to promote cooperation and other issues of common interest especially in the Middle East region.
The two deputy foreign ministers agreed on exchanging visits at the highest level, as well as cooperation in humanitarian issues in the international organization, the ambassador said.
Georgia pays particular attention to strengthening political and economic relations with Egypt, as one of the most important countries in the Middle East and the Arab region, he added.
Dzuliashvili said his country's delegation also met with Arab League Assistant Secretary General Ahmed Ben Helli and delivered an invitation to AL Secretary-General Nabil El Araby to take part in the Silk Road forum, to be hosted by Tbilisi in October.
The delegation also briefed the Egyptian side and the AL officials on the situation in the disputed territory between Georgia and Russia, the ambassador said.
The Arab League confirmed its strong support to the unity and sovereignty of Georgia's internationally recognized borders, he added.
The Georgian delegation also met with Egypt's Presidential adviser for national security Fayza Abul Naga and discussed several issues of mutual concern, the ambassador concluded.
