Egypt hopes Iran nuclear agreement with world powers stop arms race

Egypt hopes the recent initial agreement between Iran and six world powers regarding the Iran's nuclear program could help stop arms race in the region, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday.
"Egypt hopes for a final agreement to be reached by June 30 to contribute to achieving stability in the Middle East and to prevent it from sliding into a nonstop armament race," Foreign Ministry's spokesman Badr Abdel-Atty said in the statement.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry also expects that the deal would enhance Egypt's "recurrent calls" for a nuclear-free, WMD (weapons of mass destruction)-free Middle East in support of the region's security and stability.
The final deal is to be reached by June 30 according to the joint statement read by foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on Iran's nuclear program released by the U.S. Department of State on Thursday.
Iran and six world powers, including the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany, reached an initial agreement in the Swiss city of Lausanne on Thursday to limit Iran's uranium enrichment capacity, level and stockpile for a specific period in return for relieving the sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic for its nuclear program.
While the agreed solutions were hailed by U.S. President Barack Obama's administration as "historic," the Iranian officials believe it is a world recognition of the Iranian nuclear program.
