Egypt justice minister to attend ACINET conference in Beirut

Chancellor Ahmed Makki, Minister of Justice headed a high-profile delegation to Beirut on Saturday for a two-day visit to participate in the 4th Conference of the Arab Anti-Corruption and Integrity Network (ACINET), Reconciling Hopes with Realities in the Fight against Corruption: Paving the Way for Innovation . The Conference is held at the ministerial level and will be attended by anti-corruption leaders from across the region and high-level representatives of active governmental and non-governmental bodies, in addition to distinguished experts and representatives of regional and international organizations and partner countries. Egypt will advance initiatives to combat corruption and to recover the looted money in the conference, said Chancellor Makki in a statement before departure. The ACINET conference will provide participants with a unique opportunity to review their anti-corruption efforts and explore ways to reinforce them by sharing experiences and expertise and learning more about the most recent developments at the global level in this field. Discussions are expected to support participants in finding innovative solutions that enable them to further progress in strengthening transparency, accountability and integrity and reducing corruption opportunities with a view to reinforcing their countries' ability to respond to citizens' aspirations and the requirements of sustainable development and social justice. ACINET consists of 15 countries: Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Sudan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, Morocco, Mauritania, Yemen and Djibouti.
