Egypt is keen on promoting the values of citizenship, pluralism and acceptance of the Other, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Tuesday.
Speaking to a delegation of the UK's Anglican Church, Sisi stressed that there is not any form of religious discrimination in Egypt.
The president said all Egyptians enjoy the same rights and have equal duties toward their homeland, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
Bishop Paul Butler of Durham Diocese, for his part, praised the role played by Egypt to achieve peace and promote the principles of citizenship, tolerance and coexistence.
He spoke highly of a visit paid recently by Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam to London to promote the values of peace, understanding and dialogue.
The meeting tackled also efforts exerted by Egypt to correct misconceptions about Islam and to prove that the Islamic religion has nothing to do with violence and hatred, the spokesman noted.
