Egyptian liberal opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei is scheduled to be sworn in as the interim prime minister Saturday evening, state-run Al-Ahram news website reported. "ElBaradei will take an oath as prime minister in front of President Mansour at 08:00 p.m. local time (1800 GMT)," Al-Ahram quoted spokesman of Al-Dostour Party, which is chaired by ElBaradei, as saying. ElBaradei, leader of the opposition bloc known as the National Salvation Front, has met with the interim president twice Saturday. The post has been vacant since the ouster of Egypt's Islamist president Mohamed Morsi on Wednesday along with his government chaired by former prime minister Hesham Qandil. Morsi's ouster, carried out by the army, came in response to millions of protesters nationwide who demanded his removal due to his "poor performance and maladministration." On Friday, at least 35 were killed and over 1,400 injured in clashes between Morsi's opponents and Islamist proponents in the capital Cairo and other governorates across the country.
