Egypt will spare no efforts to support the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights, Egypt's ambassador to the UN headquarters in Geneva Wafaa Bassim said. Speaking before the 22nd meeting of the UN Human Rights Council on Monday, Bassim underlined Egypt's keenness on solving the issue of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, highlighting Cairo's role in brokering a prisoner swap deal between Hamas and Israel in 2011. Bassim called on Israel to respect the items of the deal and release the Palestinian prisoners including women, aged people and children. She cited that the prisoners are detained under bad conditions without trial and are being tortured to death in some cases.
