Egypt to restore Italian consulate following blast

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab assigned a research center affiliated to the housing ministry to inspect the site of the damaged consulate of Italy in Cairo to work on restoring it after a terrorist bombing on Saturday.

The center will also inspect neighboring buildings to make sure of their safety after the powerful attack.

The consulate building in downtown was severely damaged by the bombing which left one person dead and around 10 injured.

The attack came days after the assassination of prosecutor general Hesham Barakat in a car bombing and deadly terrorist attacks in North Sinai that left security personnel dead.

An arm of Daesh group has been blamed for the Sinai attacks in which scores of militants were killed by the army.
