The third phase of parliamentary elections began at Egyptian embassies and consulates late Wednesday under supervision of the supreme council for elections which provided ballot cards via its website, said an official here Thursday. Foreign Minister spokesman Amr Rushdi told the press that Egyptians abroad have till Monday to finalize their vote, noting that Egyptian nationals abroad could cast-in their votes through 127 embassies or 11 consulates worldwide. Working hours at Egyptian embassies would be extended till midnight to allow citizens to vote, said Rushdi, adding that vote count would be set for Tuesday. The third phase of the elections will begin in the mainland on January 3-4 while the run-off elections zre scheduled for January 10-11. The first and second phases resulted in strong prospects for the freedom and justice party, political wing for the Muslim Brotherhood, while the Salafist group the Nour party came second.
