Egypt's ambassador in Germany Mohamed Hegazi met Saturday with the former chancellor of Germany Gerhard Schroder at the embassy's headquarters in Berlin, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The encounter came in the light of a planned visit by Schroder to Egypt.
During the meeting, Hegazi and Schroder tackled international issues, political developments in Europe, along with Egyptian-German ties and efforts to support Egypt in its war against terrorism, the statement said.
The meeting also took up preparations for an economic conference, due to be held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh on March 13-15, it added.
A host of German companies will take part in the event.
