Egyptian FM expects South Korea's bigger role in counter-terror

 Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said late Sunday South Korea can play a bigger role in fighting terrorism although it faces relatively less threats, Yonhap news agency reported.
"This has to be a global war against terrorism," he said in an interview in Seoul. "All members of the international community must have a role to play in this area." 
He arrived here earlier in the day for talks with his South Korean counterpart Yun Byung-se slated for Tuesday. 
His trip came a week after a set of deadly terrorist attacks in Paris which sent a shockwave through the world. 
Certainly, he added, the role of East Asian nations like South Korea is "very important in restricting the financing of terrorism, restricting armament and the exchange of information and intelligence." 
He also emphasized the need for "consistency and solidarity" of the international community to counter terrorism and "comprehensive" measures. 
On relations between South Korea and Egypt, he held out expectations over closer ties especially in Cairo's economic development. 
"I believe South Korea's experience in economic growth can be helpful to Egypt," he said. 
Meanwhile, he is expected to discuss Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi's plan to visit South Korea early next year. 
He is scheduled to fly to Japan after the Seoul trip.
