
Egypt's foreign minister Nabil Fahmy met here today with the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa and Sudan, Alexander Rondos . The meeting dealt with the political and security developments in the Horn of Africa, especially the latest developments in Somalia and ways to support the Somali government in addition to the ongoing negotiations between Sudan and South Sudan to resolve all outstanding issues between them. Developments of the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), (the Grand Renaissance Dam project) also featured in the talks, the Egyptian foreign Ministry spokesman said. Fahmy expressed Egypt's readiness to cooperate with the European Union in the framework of a strategy of participation in the development, which will include all geographic areas on the African continent , the spokesman added.
