Egyptian Foreign Ministry summons Pakistani Charge d'Affaires

The Foreign Ministry Tuesday summoned Pakistan's Charge d'Affaires to inform him of Egypt's rejection of the statement released by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry on the Criminal Court's verdicts.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the Pakistani Foreign Ministry's statement is considered an interference in Egypt's domestic affairs and implies unacceptable comments on the Egyptian regime which is fully independent.

Such interference shadows on bilateral relations, the ministry said.

The Egyptian embassy in Islamabad conveyed the same message to the Pakistani side explaining rejection of the statement.

The Pakistani statement commented on the Criminal Court's verdicts in the espionage and Wadi el Natron prison break cases. The court ordered referring the documents of both cases to Egypt's Mufti to give an opinion on the execution of the defendants.
