Greek Ambassador in Cairo Michael Diamessis said the exchange of visits between senior officials of Egypt and Greek gave a strong boost to Egyptian-Greek ties over the past ten years, citing Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras's visit to Cairo in October 2016.
Giving a word at a ceremony held on Sunday to mark Greek National Day, Ambassador Diamessis hailed the level of cooperation between Cairo and Athens.
Greek investments in Egypt amounted to nearly 1 billion euros, the diplomat said, underlining the major role played by the Egyptian and Greek communities in boosting relations between the two countries.
Greek Independence Day, observed on March 25, celebrates the country gaining independence from the Ottoman Empire after 400 years of rule.
