Egyptian minister asserts cooperation with Africa before joint commission talks

Egypt's International Cooperation Minister Naglaa el-Ahwany said a meeting of the joint Egyptian-Tunisian commission is meant to deliver "a political message" to assert Egypt's keenness on boosting cooperation with African countries.

In statements to MENA reporter in Tunis, Ahwany said Africa is promising with regard to investments and trade.

She said one of the Egyptian government's priorities is to achieve economic integration with the African states.

As for Tunisia, the minister said efforts will be exerted to double Egyptian investments in the Arab country in the coming period.

The current investments are estimated at dlrs 215 million. Ahwany said sub-committees will be formed to follow up an agreement to be signed during the meeting of the joint commission.

The planned accord will have a timetable for implementation, she said.

She also invited Tunisian businessmen to invest in the development projects of Suez Canal.
