Minister of Tourism Hisham Zazou on Sunday met with Mexico's Ambassador to Egypt Jorge Fuentes at the headquarters of the Mexican embassy in Cairo.
During the meeting, Zazou offered condolences to the families of the Mexican tourists who were mistakenly killed in a shelling on their convoy in Wahat.
He assured the Mexican envoy that all bodies concerned in Egypt are keen on identifying reasons behind the incident and preparing a report in this regard.
The newly-assigned minister hoped that the incident would not badly affect the Egyptian-Mexican tourism relations, stressing that Mexican tourists will be welcomed in Egypt under any circumstances.
The Mexican envoy, for his part, expressed thanks to Zazou for the visit, hoping that investigations would be over as soon as possible.
In the wee hours of Monday, a tourist group, including Mexican nationals, was mistakenly killed in a shelling by the Egyptian security forces.
