Egypt's FM meets Polish Parliament's speaker

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Wednesday with Polish Parliament Speaker Radoslaw Sikorski , Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aatti said.

Shoukry's visit to Poland is the first leg of an European tour taking him to Hungary and the Czech Republic.

They discussed boosting bilateral ties in various fields and the necessity of strengthening the parliamentary relations after holding the parliamentary polls in Egypt, Abdel Aatti added.

Also, Shoukry and Sikorski touched on a number of regional issues, notably the Libyan crisis after the deteriorating security and political situation there.

The Libyan political crisis should be settled in parallel with supporting Libyan government's efforts to fight terrorism there, they asserted.

The Egyptian top diplomat pointed to the important role played by Poland under the umbrella of the European Union to bring back stability and fight terror in Libya, Abdel Aatti underlined.

For his part, the Polish Parliament speaker stressed the gravity of the situation in Libya and its repercussions at the regional and international levels.

Sikorski highlighted the importance of fostering relations with Egypt in all fields, including the tourist ones.
