Egypt's FM meets Portuguese, Austrian, Czech FMs in Barcelona

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Tuesday with Portuguese Foreign Minister Rui Machete, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz and Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zaoralek in Barcelona city, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aatti said.

The meeting was held on the fringe of the ministerial meeting of the European Union and southern Mediterranean states on the European neighborhood policy.

They discussed fostering ties between Egypt and the three countries in various areas, Abdel Aatti added.

Also, Shoukry and the three foreign ministers touched on a number of key files, notably the Libyan crisis especially in the light of the current security and political developments.

They probed ways to support efforts of the United Nations (UN) Special Representative for Libya Bernardino Léon to push forward the political solution and forge a national unity government that helps achieve stability there, according to Abdel Aatti.

Shoukry called for settling the political crisis in Libya in conjunction with fighting terror, Abdel Aatti said.

The spokesman asserted that the ministers mulled over the situation in Yemen and the developments in the Palestinian cause as well as the Syrian crisis.
