Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam and Awqaf Minister Talaat Afifi arrived in Cairo Monday coming from Oman. In Muscat, they attended the annual conference for developing Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) science on Saturday. The four-day conference is organized by the Omani Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and was attended by scientists and intellectuals from Egypt, Oman and other Arab and Muslim countries. The conference provided an opportunity for reviewing the Fiqh of coexistence in Islamic doctrines. It also probed Sharia (Islamic law) in Arab and Islamic constitutions and its link to citizenship and the establishment of a civil society.
