El-Araby receives message from UN chief on Yemen

The Arab League (AL) Secretary General Nabil el Araby received a message from the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

The message was delivered by the United Nations Special Envoy on Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed.

The message includes some proposals for finding a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

In a joint press conference held on Thursday with el Araby, Ahmed said that they agreed that the political solution is the only one for the Yemeni crisis.

He further underlined that the political solution states sending observers under the umbrella of the UN.

He thanked el Araby for the great support offered by the AL.

Ahmed reiterated that after Geneva meeting it was agreed to implement the decision number 2016 pertaining to ceasefire, sending observers and delivering humanitarian aid as well as resuming the political process which is based on the Gulf initiative, national dialogue and the United Nations Security Council's decisions.

For his part, el Araby hailed the role played by Ahmed in this critical phase in the history of Yemen.
