
Al Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el Tayyeb asserted on Thursday that Al Azhar seeks to foster cooperation with Nigeria during the coming period in propagating the culture of coexistence and peace.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the presidential palace in Abuja.
He hailed the Nigerian experience based on harmony among all spectra of the Nigerian society, stressing that Nigeria enjoys a distinguished position at the African and Islamic levels.
For his part, Osinbajo welcomed the visit of Al Azhar Imam and his accompanying delegation, praising efforts made by Al Azhar to activate the dialogue among followers of different religions.
