Erdogan praises security forces' over Istanbul attack handling

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised the security forces for their effort to peacefully end the crisis of holding Istanbul's prosecutor as a hostage by leftist group.
Erdogan said Tuesday that the crime that took place at an Istanbul courthouse was "no minor issue," Anadolu Agency reported.
"This is an incident that we can learn from and that needs to be taken seriously," Erdogan said. The president also congratulated the security forces and said authorities would investigate the incident thoroughly.
He said the gunmen had entered the Okmeydani district courthouse, where security measures are tight, disguised as lawyers wearing robes. He said the prosecutor was shot multiple times in the head and body.
The security forces had to storm into the room where the prosecutor was held after they heard gunshots.
The hostage situation had ended on, with two terrorists killed by police.
Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz was seriously injured and later died at a hospital, police said.
Kiraz had been handling the case of Berkin Elvan, the boy who was critically injured during 2013's Gezi Park protests and died in March 2014 after falling into a coma for 269 days.
